We are here for the local communities of Greenacre, Chullora and Mt Lewis and the wider Canterbury Bankstown Local Government Area. Our mission is to engage and work with the community to improve residents’ wellbeing by addressing disadvantages, in order to create an inclusive and supportive community.

People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are welcome. An Arabic-speaking counsellor is available and our staff speak a range of languages.

If your first language is not English, we can also assist you through the use of the Telephone Interpreter Service (TIS). If you are unable to come into the Centre, you can call TIS directly on 131 450 and ask to be put through to Greenacre Area Community Centre and we will assist you over the phone. This call is free.

What is this petition?

This petition asks the NSW Premier Chris Minns and NSW Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane to Fund Neighbourhood and Community Centres as Essential Social Infrastructure.

Neighbourhood Centres call on the leaders of both major parties to commit to sustainable core funding for every Neighbourhood and Community Centre in NSW in the lead up to the NSW State Election — separate from and in addition to existing program funding.

Why is this important?

Every week, an estimated 72,000 people walk through the doors of a Neighbourhood and Community Centre somewhere in NSW. These 175 centres are the largest community-led social infrastructure network in the state — and yet the NSW Government provides no ongoing, dedicated funding for the work that makes them possible.

NSW is one of the last states in Australia not to support Neighbourhood and Community Centres through realistic core funding. That's not an oversight — it's a choice. And it's one we're asking both major parties to change before March 2027.
